The Legend Of Fitch Mountain Eddie

A long, long time ago, about the same time that Paul Bunyan was living in Minnesota, giants lived around these parts. They lived mainly up near the geysers, so they could use the steam to keep their houses warm and to heat the water. Eddie’s family came out to California from New York when he was a young boy. His best friends were Jim and “Fat Boy” and the three of them had many adventures together.

Whenever the boys would take off to another adventure, Eddie was in charge of the food, Jim always picked the campsite and “Fat Boy” gathered firewood. They especially liked going out to the coast, since the ocean was the only body of water around these parts that was large enough to let all three of them go swimming together.

Eddie kept a diary and although legend says that Eddie buried it under Fitch Mountain, stories from the diary have been passed down over the years. Like all little giants, Eddie grew up. He fell in love with Bert (short for Roberta) and they had a little daughter they named Sam (short for Samantha). Eddie (long for Ed) settled his family near the “little creek called the Russian River and they lived happily ever after. If you know of any stories about Eddie, please e-mail them and we’ll pass them on. After all that’s what you’re supposed to do with legends!
